Work Permit

Work permits are governed by International Labour Force Law No. 6735 and issued by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Applications for permission to work in Türkiye can be made from Türkiye or abroad. Foreigners who will apply from abroad, have to apply with the employment contracts, assignment letters or documents proving the company's partnerships to the units representing the Republic of Türkiye in the country in which they are citizens or permanent residents.

  Applications from abroad are made to the Turkish embassy or consulate and forwarded to the Ministry; the employer completes the online application and submits the documents within the periods set by the Ministry.

  Complete applications are decided within 30 days. If information or documents are missing, the assessment is postponed until they are provided, for no more than 30 days; otherwise the application is rejected. Work permit applications results that is positive or negative, in applications made from abroad notification is provided to applicants through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye.

  Foreigners who enter Türkiye by taking a work and residence permit via consulates, need to register in the Address Registration System in Türkiye within 20 business days following the date of their entry.

Work permit extensions can be applied for from 60 days before expiry and in any case before expiry; later applications are rejected.

  Work permits for foreigners who will start working in Türkiye vary as education, home services, health, tourism, aviation, entertainment and other industries such as direct foreign investment, special foreign direct investment, professional services and liaison offices.
