Grenada citizenship by investment

Grenada Citizenship by Investment

A Caribbean passport through the National Transformation Fund or an approved real estate purchase — from USD 235,000

What Is Grenada Citizenship by Investment?

Grenada's Citizenship by Investment Programme is established under the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Act, 2013, as amended. Applications are assessed by the Citizenship by Investment Committee (CBIC), with final approval resting with the Minister responsible for citizenship, and the programme is administered day to day by the Investment Migration Agency (IMA).

Eligible main applicants and their dependants obtain Grenada citizenship — and a passport — by making a non-refundable contribution to the National Transformation Fund (NTF) or purchasing an approved real estate project, through an Authorised International Marketing Agent. Applications cannot be submitted directly to the CBIC.

A shared Caribbean minimum price

Grenada is one of five OECS member states — together with Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, St Kitts and Nevis and Saint Lucia — that signed a regional Memorandum of Agreement on citizenship by investment. Since 1 July 2024, the agreed minimum price for any CBI option across these five countries is USD 200,000, and discounting below that price is not permitted.

Source: OECS press release, 22 June 2024. An agreement to establish a separate regional regulator, the Eastern Caribbean Citizenship by Investment Regulatory Authority (ECCIRA), was signed by the Prime Ministers of the five Caribbean CBI states (Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis and Saint Lucia) between 18 and 23 September 2025; under its terms, it enters into force 30 days after the fifth instrument of ratification is deposited. IMA Circular No. 2 of 2026 states that Grenada adopted related amendments in 2025 and 2026, but that the resulting requirements, including a residence requirement, will not take effect until the regional regulator is operational and the participating states have set a common start date.

Two Ways to Qualify

National Transformation Fund — from USD 235,000

A non-refundable contribution to the NTF: USD 235,000 covers an individual applicant, a couple, or a family of up to four. Additional dependants beyond the third cost a further USD 25,000 or USD 50,000 each, and an additional sibling costs USD 75,000.

Real Estate Investment — from USD 270,000

Invest in a government-approved project (mostly hotels, resorts and villas): at least USD 350,000, or at least USD 270,000 for each share where two or more applicants jointly buy a unit in an approved tourism accommodation project. A USD 50,000 government contribution also applies for a main applicant with up to three dependants, with further amounts for larger families. Trem Global has not yet confirmed the minimum holding period against an official source.

Figures are the IMA's published minimum contributions or purchase prices. They do not include the application, due diligence, processing or interview fees, or the real estate route's separate government fee.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify as a main applicant, you generally need to:

  • Be at least 18 years old and choose one of the two investment routes above, made through an Authorised International Marketing Agent — applications cannot be submitted directly to the CBIC.
  • Pass the CBIC's due diligence review; a due diligence fee of USD 5,000 per person applies to the main applicant and each dependant aged 17 or over.
  • Complete the mandatory interview: the main applicant, spouse, any financial sponsor and each dependant aged 17 or over (Circular No. 9 of 1 September 2023, for applications from 4 September 2023).
  • Not fall within any ground on which the Government will refuse an application: giving false information; a previous conviction anywhere for an offence that would carry more than six months' imprisonment in Grenada (unless pardoned); being under criminal investigation or a potential security risk; involvement in activity likely to bring Grenada into disrepute; or a visa refusal by a country Grenada has visa-free travel with, not since overcome. Under IMA Circular No. 1 of 2024, nationals residing in Iran, North Korea, Russia, Belarus, Sudan, Yemen or Afghanistan cannot apply. Those born in Iran, Sudan, Yemen or Afghanistan may apply only if they left before adulthood and/or have held permanent residence or a valid visa for at least 10 years in Canada, the UK, a Schengen state, the US, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia or the UAE; have no economic ties to a restricted country; and in-country enhanced due diligence is possible.

Who Can Be Included as a Dependant?

A main applicant may include the following family members in the same application:

  • Their spouse.
  • Dependent children of the main applicant or their spouse. The NTF fee schedule adds a further USD 25,000 or USD 50,000 for each dependant beyond the third; Trem Global has not yet confirmed the exact age brackets that apply to children against an official source.
  • Parents or grandparents of the main applicant or their spouse. The IMA's fee page references an age condition of "55 years and under" for these relatives, without spelling out the full rule; Trem Global has not yet confirmed this against an official source.
  • An additional sibling of the main applicant, for a separate fee of USD 75,000; Trem Global has not yet confirmed any age or marital-status conditions for siblings against an official source.

Application, Due Diligence and Other Fees

Beyond the investment itself, every applicant pays the following fees per person:

  • Application fee: USD 1,500 per person.
  • Due diligence fee: USD 5,000 per person aged 17 or over. Processing fee: USD 1,500 per person aged 17 or over, USD 500 for each person under 17.
  • Interview fee: USD 1,000 per person, for the main applicant, spouse, any financial sponsor and each dependant aged 17 or over — mandatory since Circular No. 9 of 1 September 2023. The real estate route also carries a separate USD 50,000 government contribution (see above).

Application Process

  1. Choose an Authorised International Marketing Agent — applications cannot be submitted directly to the CBIC.
  2. Your marketing agent works with an Authorised Local Agent, licensed by the Minister, who submits the application to the CBIC's Executive Office and handles all correspondence.
  3. The Government carries out a thorough due diligence background check on the application.
  4. If successful, the CBIC issues a letter instructing you to make the NTF contribution or complete the real estate purchase, and pay any remaining fees.
  5. On proof of payment, the CBIC issues a certificate of registration; your agent uses it to apply for a Grenadian passport.

Grenada's official page does not publish an estimated processing time; Trem Global has not yet confirmed a current figure against an official source — ask your agent for the latest guidance.

Your spouse and dependent children can be included in the headline contribution. Parents, grandparents and an additional sibling can also be added, each for a separate fee; Trem Global has not yet confirmed the exact age conditions that apply to these relatives against an official source.

The IMA has not published an official processing time for the Grenada programme. Trem Global has not yet confirmed a current figure against an official source — please contact us or ask your agent for the latest guidance.

Not at present. IMA Circular No. 2 of 2026 (21 August 2026) says a residence requirement adopted under the ECCIRA agreement was due to start on 31 August 2026, but will not take effect until the regional regulator is operational and all participating states have agreed and announced a common start date. Trem Global has not yet confirmed the length or terms of that requirement against an official source.

Yes. The IMA states that Grenada allows individuals to hold dual citizenship. Check separately whether your current country of citizenship allows it.

Visa-free and visa-on-arrival access can change without notice. Grenada is not named in the White House proclamation that restricts US entry for some other Caribbean CBI programmes. Nationals of several countries face restrictions on applying at all — see the eligibility section above. Trem Global has not yet confirmed current visa-free country counts for a Grenada passport against an official source.

Yes. Applications can only be submitted to the CBIC through an Authorised International Marketing Agent — you cannot apply directly.
