Global economy is preparing for the post-pandemic period. Being successful in fighting against COVID-19, Turkey is predicted to show a better recovery process than other countries worldwide. Suma Chakrabarti, president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), stated that Turkey’s investments in health sector is quite impressive and the country is expected to experience a v-shaped recovery followed by a strong economic growth. "In the new world we are now entering, companies will be putting considerable emphasis on resilience and diversification. Turkey, with its strong potential to significantly scale up exports, is one of the countries that stands to gain most from this new dynamic,” says Chakrabarti.
Manifacturing industry in Turkey reacted the pandemic in the most positive way possible. Ford and TOFAŞ started to manufacture respirotary equitments and face shields. Chakrabarti expressed his admiration for these acts and how proud he is to see their partners proceeded fast during COVID-19 outbreak.
He also mentioned EBRD’s strong commitment to Turkey. “We have been with you in good times and in the more challenging times of the past several years, supporting the economy after the coup attempt and now responding immediately and strongly to the needs of the Turkish corporate sector and the banking system,” says Chakrabarti.
